Some longbow and primitive bow shooters and most if not all war bow shooters shoot off the hand. I watched a ‘how to’ video a couple of days ago on crafting wood arrows for use with a longbow. That video left out some important information about arrow grain. It compelled me to make this video demonstrating considerations that need to be made about the direction of the wood grain when building wood arrows. When I was 8 years old, a wood arrow separated at one of the feather grains. That arrow ended up in my index finger. Take a moment to check your wood arrows for cracks or splits anytime they take a hard hit. This video is Canon SX130 1280×720 MOV clips rendered to 1280×720 H.264/AVC format at 12 Mbps. Please note: I’m not sure if I made it clear enough in the video, but the primary knife is the one that should NOT have any bevels. You SHOULD have bevels on the stab knife, however. Do not remove those. This video just covers some basics about chip carving. To learn more, I highly recommend the book by Wayne Barton called The Complete Guide to Chip Carving.

Minecraft Hardcore Mode – Tree Fort Tour!

I hope those of you who had thanksgiving yesterday enjoyed it! I wanted to show off the tree fort that I built, so let me know what you think of it. Finally, some of you may of noticed that the last few videos that I have been posting have been of shorter length. This is because I am uploading videos from home which take around 2-3 hours per video from start to finish. Late next week I start my new work schedule which will allow for longer videos since the internet on campus is a lot faster than my internet at home. Ron Paulk’s Mobile Wood Shop

Ron gives a video tour of his mobile wood shop.

I received a lot of question about the video production side of my latest project, the OS Xbox Pro. So I decided to lower my standards and upload one of these really poorly made, shaky cam, youtube style videos where I show you some of the tools and techniques I used. It covers lighting, cameras, my home made time-lapse dolly, motorized turntables, and lenses. Be sure to leave me your comments as well as subscribe if you’d like to see more of this sort of thing.
